Piggy Bank born without slot: Parents blame SmartRider
The parents of a Piggy Bank born without a coin slot are blaming the increased use of SmartRider cards.
More than 70% of regular commuters have discovered the convenience of using a SmartRider compared to saving coins and queuing for a ticket every day.
“More SmartRiders means less reason to use your Piggy Bank and now look what’s happened” said the irate mother. “It’s ceramic evolution.”
“He’s nothing more than an ornament, who needs another ceramic pig?” the father said.
Transperth’s David Hynes said there was no firm evidence that SmartRider was to blame for the piglet’s missing slot.
“Whether it’s evolution or a ceramic freak of nature, the fact is that is when travelers discovery they can save 15 – 25% just by using SmartRider, they just don’t want to save coins any more,” Mr Hynes said.
SmartRider can be bought from Transperth Info Centres and a range of retail sales outlets.
