It all started a couple of days ago. Demoslam.com, a mysterious but clearly Google related website appeared, resulting in a lot of speculations in the blogosphere and guesses whether it was a fraud or a new product from Google.
Today Google has finally revealed the secret. Demo Slam is the project launched to inspire Google users to re-imagine the typical dry technology demo and create their own more exciting renditions. Or in less words – it’s a competition for tech demos where everybody is welcome to participate. All you need to do is to create a video that shows others how to use a cool Google product.
Users can vote for their favourites in weekly video competitions, and those votes will determine the Demo Slam Champ of the week and as the competition continues, these winners will then go head-to-head until the overall champion is crowned. The competition starts today and will run for the next few weeks.
Here are some demo slams:
Demo Slam: Rushmore
Demo Slam: Stealing the Logo
Demo Slam: 20ft Search
Demo Slam: Chubby Bunny
Demo Slam: Instant Music
Demo Slam: Dance Search
DemoSlam has been created in partnership with Johannes Leonardo. Johannes Leonardo co-founder Leo Premutico says in a statement, “By giving people an online arena to pit their tech demos against one another, Google is encouraging the public to not only have fun and get creative with technology, but also challenging them to rethink how it’s used in our lives.”
